Board member Melanie Ricks loves knowing that families here connect and discover they're not alone. She notes, "It really is an all-encompassing space to find fun and peace and overall happiness, or a rainbow hidden within whatever that family is going through." That support is why Tim and his wife Amie are committed to helping the Ronald McDonald House Charities of eastern Wisconsin.

For safety reasons, we do not allow parents to sleep with their child on the parent bed. Tim and his wife Amie were on a list to adopt their second child. They answered the call when they learned a newborn needed a loving home. The $12 million Veterinary Surgical Center of Long Island will also provide 24-hour emergency care. “It’s been a labor of love recruiting the financial support to make this house a reality,” Cynthia Lippe, chair, of the RMHC NYM Stony Brook House Fundraising Committee, said in a statement. “We’ve been planning this for 10 years, and now we’re finally able to provide for families in Suffolk County the way they need,” Matt Campo, CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities NY Metro, said in a written statement.
Overnight stays in the hospital
Many area hotels offer discounts to parents or family of our patients. Now we can offer a solution to our families for a safe and efficient way to cross Watertown Plank Road to and from Children’s Wisconsin. The bridge also represents the great relationship that unites our Ronald McDonald House with Children’s Wisconsin.
“This facility will stand as a beacon of hope, compassion and support for families facing their toughest challenges,” Dr. William Wertheim, interim executive vice president for Stony Brook Medicine, said in a statement. Together, Ronald McDonald House and Children’s Wisconsin are so important to this community, and to our larger community extending beyond Wauwatosa, in helping families and their children heal. The Children’s Wisconsin Center for Child Development focuses on integrated health services for children with developmental diagnoses.
Please make plans for the care of your other children before coming to the hospital. One adult may stay overnight with their child in the hospital. A single sleeper couch is in most patient rooms for one parent or grandparent to stay. You will need to bring your own personal care items and sleepwear.

The "Magic Room" is a room filled with brand-new toys and books. The Warrens say the Ronald McDonald House has shown them a lesson in humanity. Guests enjoy pristine kitchens, family rooms, game rooms, laundry areas, and even a secret garden. Older brother Bennett admits he "kind of missed his sister when she was in the hospital." "You have so many other families that can relate to your struggles. And even if their struggles are not the exact same, they're going through something, and you can share in and bond," Rick said.
